Are you still on the hunt for a new position? Thinking about holding off until the beginning of the new year? Most people find it difficult to juggle a search during the busiest time of the year with hectic schedules for both candidates and the hiring staff. Good news though, now is actually a prime time to lock in a new job, as companies are hurrying to fill their open positions before the end of the year.  

Here's why: there is a decrease in active candidates and inversely an increase in job demand. During the holidays it seems there is no time for time-intensive job-hunting, which means less competition in your search and companies work hard to hire before the year ends, making for quick hire-ons.   

The holidays offer a wider variety of opportunities, too. A few quick tips for making the most of the season:  

• Everyone has a hectic schedule at this point in the season, so flexibility accommodating a hiring manager is necessary. Monster.com suggests being prepared to interview at unusual times, to allow for a recruiter's or hiring manager's busy holiday schedule.  
• You probably have several parties to attend. Use work events and family gatherings to connect with managers, co-workers, family and acquaintances. The more the merrier! Share your career search with everyone you meet to extend your reach – anyone is a possible connection to your next career move!
