Position: Sales Product Engineer
Overview: The Sales Product Engineer is a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of industrial construction materials, their design, manufacturing processes, and applications. This role will provide expert technical support and work closely with both internal teams and external clients to ensure seamless product integration, problem resolution, and technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical liaison between sales and operations teams to address product-related issues, including pipe, fittings, gaskets, restrained joints, and other specialty products.
  • Attend national, state, and local code (specification) meetings and conferences, delivering technical presentations and providing expert support.
  • Support the sales department in product selection, installations, and resolving complex product issues.
  • Advocate for the use of ductile iron products over alternative materials and imports.
  • Assist outside sales reps with "Lunch and Learn" programs and similar customer training initiatives.
  • Provide technical training to new sales hires, offering hands-on experience through plant visits and jobsite tours.
  • Build relationships with city engineers and specifying officials to support Division Sales Representatives.
  • Coordinate with North American sales representatives for engineering and specification calls, helping them gain real-world product knowledge and experience.
  • Travel approximately 75% of the time, including regional and national travel, to support sales and client needs.
  • Lead investigations into product complaints, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing product claims for accuracy, negotiating denials or counter-offers when necessary in line with company policies.
Expectations:
  • Plan work schedules at least four weeks in advance and report weekly on activities, including meetings, calls, travel plans, and other significant events.
  • Adjust travel plans on short notice due to unforeseen circumstances such as field complaints.
  • Conduct weekly sales calls, presentations, and field investigations as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in Salesforce.
  • Contribute at least one article annually for the company’s quarterly magazine.
  • Lead webinars and training sessions on product advancements, new initiatives, and special projects.
  • Engage in The Challenger Sale program and report on sales progress, including win/loss reports.

Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in industrial construction manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management.
  • Extensive knowledge of water and wastewater systems, design, construction, and operations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including occasional last-minute travel adjustments.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM software is preferred.
