Duties of the New Model Engineer include:
- Work with the customer to determine new model product requirements and quality standards for those products
- Review and read part drawings to identify correct dimensions and tolerances of new model parts
- Be a key member and resource for the APQP team
- Create quality plan, process layout, and work instructions for new model launches and production
- Train individuals on new model quality and production plans
- Ensure quality documents are continually updated throughout the new model stages
- Determine quality checks and inspections to be completed during production
- Assist with internal quality audits during new model launches
- Continually communicate and update customer throughout the new model process
Requirements for the New Model Engineer include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field; or equivalent experience in new model automotive
- The ability to read part blueprints and use Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and organizational skills
